wow those previous pics i posted look like complete crap compared to now, I've cleaned up the bottom area removing the brackets to hold i nthe old black grill and that lip that sticks up along the brackets as well, as of now its in primer and full of bumper moulding stuff, I'll see if i can get a pic tomorrow.
And finally i've gotten around to priemering the grill (just to see how it looks, still going to need more work) But as for now i can get an idea of how its going to look. I definatly need lowering and a lip. Also the licenseplate indentation needs more work too, so dont go thinking im going to leave it all rough like that. Also sorry if the quality is low, its just taken with my camera phone, and then resized in mspaint

Thats a great idea. I like the 87 bumper without the center piece best (I'm biased I have an 87) and the 89+ bottom grill looks great. Also filling in the plate indentation is something I think I'll do. Nice work
I have a 91 bumper sitting on the garage floor that I had considered mounting but after this thread, I'm really pondering just pillaging it for the grill insert. I havent measured but is the lower opening the same height on both pre and post 89? I know the grill insert off the 89+ is wider and needs to be cut down, but the height of the lower opening on this car looks taller. when you went to the 88 bumper, did you leave the factory pre-89 grill in it or did you swap like this one? Got a pic to share?
