Pre-Start Lube

I was wondering, as I'm about to change blocks in my cressida (one with a hole to a complete bottom end), after i replace everything and top off the necessary fluids, will the bottom end i.e. bearings and crank have enough oil to float on to ensure that i can start the car up without causing a knock in the near future? And after i put back oil in the car how do the bearings and such get lubed if the motor hasnt been started yet?

As long as the battery is charged up and the plugs are out it should be fine for a minute or two at a time, by then it should pressurise the whole system and you'll see it on the gauge

Not to thread jack, but I've been cranking with the EFI fuse pulled and plugs out and for awhile (no longer than 30 seconds at a time) and still havent got oil pressure. How long do I need to crank before I start to get pressure? Do I just need to crank longer?

I also had this same problem did it forever and never got no oil
pressure so i just put the EFI back in and it started up.

But i DO NOT reccomend doing this, im sure some of these guys will
tell you as of why not to....

If the plugs are out a minte or so at a time isn't going to hurt.

Did you do any oil system mods while it was apart?
(seen a few times people fit a remote filter and plumb it backwards and have this issue)

All you need is a pressure indication. Tells you there's oil at the bearings and turbo. ;)

And J dub with the save. But couldent this have been done with an oil pressure testing tool. I think I saw one at the local WT tool for like 20-30 bucks and it lets you know from the block if there is oil pressure in the system i dont know if this applys here or not.

You can hook up a mechanical test gauge at the stock sensor location and check that way. More accurate and faster reading. There is merit to getting pressure using the starter. That will tell you if the system is routed correctly as IJ said...especially important when a remote filter is installed.

As you can have pressure in the system and one thing could be connected incorrectly or even clogged and you will end up not having the oil where you need it causing some damage i would assume >_< lol

Anything is possible ;)

Not likely though if the block was properly cleaned during a rebuild. In the OP's case, I would check that the block oil channels are clear before installing it.
Checking the crank (if possible) is a good idea too.

I've installed a remote filter but I made sure the lines were not mixed up. Ill double check that again tho just to make sure. I pulled the oil feed line off the turbo while cranking and Im not seeing any oil there either.
