I am looking at tinting the windows in the Supra sometime mid August to keep interior temperatures down, and to have some privacy for things I keep in the back. I don't know if there is a shop around here that will do it, but I'd imagine it would be spendy.

Would it be worth it to try something like this "kit" from eBay that is precut to our vehicle...

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=MERC_VIC_RSCC_Pr4_PcY_BIN_Stores_IT

It includes all windows, including the top strip for the front windsheild.

Comments? I was thinking about 13%...5% is too dark IMO at night for ME.

Thanks

The quality of tint is primarily related to the type of filn used. Personally, I only go with certain brands such as sun guard and solar guard. Many others will shift purple or bubble.

The other important thing is where and how yo uinstall it. You have to be in a very clean area preferable indoors so you minimize the dust and particle count. If small particles get under the film, it will eventually lift and cause bubbles.

i couldn't see paying more than about $125-150 to have it professionally installed. Ya, you could save a few bucks, and attempt it yourself. It's pre-cut, so it's probably not to hard to get a decent install. Then you'd have a decent install (not professional) of a decent tint (not top shelf). One mistake, and you're at $100 for a second try. Sure I think you can do it, but there are a couple of if's for ya.

Luckily, I have a guy who works with me that does great work with top quality film. It shouldn't cost me any more than $50 total to get mine done.

I got mine tinted here for 120 and it looks a lot better than most DIY results, you'd be better off but do what ya will, I leave tinting to professionals, as I have seen the ill fated aftermath of DIY tint.

my estimate was $125 using professional grade tint that wouldn't bubble or purplize.

Most of the time when you see the tint bubble up it is because the home installer forgot to read the direction and did not remove the protective covering off the tinted film..

All it took for me to swear off DIY tint of any sort was stripping the purple tint off my windows when I got my car.... DAMN!

Nope, when I get them redone it's going to be at a shop that's been around for a long time and includes a lifetime warranty. Anything goes wrong with it, they can deal with the headache.
