I take it there was a breif transition period in the 89 crossover. I'm a bit confused on some this.

My new car was built 11/88 IIRC. It is a 1989 vehicle. It has the torque strut mount (which is good cause i have a BIC one from my '88) and uses Pre-89 motor mounts. What else is from the pre-89's on this car i don't know about yet?

One other thing.

I have the progessive steering now, however do i NEED a progressive pump? or can I stick with what i have now safely?

So far as I know the pumps aren't really any different, the pulleys are and the PPS valve is on the rack.

Subframe change was in 01/89. Also, there was actually 3 different subframes, there must have been a revision of some kind...

the car is definitely lower in stock form than the pre 89's. I thought this was due to the subframe change however maybe it was due to the change in strut manufacturer.

The PS pumps are the same except the PPS pump has some type of electrical device on it. Is this needed on my pre-89 engine to work properly?

Anyone have any idea on the LSD size?

I'm running a PPS pump without PPS hooked up and it's definitely harder to turn at idle and low RPM. While moving over around 5 mph it's fine but noticeably stiffer than normal power steering.

I've seen a bunch of 89 cars with pre-89 spoilers from the factory, always thought it looked pretty good :)

yellow plug ecu versus the 89 gray plug ecu. pre89's had 3.91 and 89+ had 3.73's. what kind of block do you have?

89+ were also supposed to have different mounting setups than Pre89 but this doesn't. This is why im asking about the 373 vs 391.

My block is a 6m version, pre-89 with NO PPS pump

Also what sensors are interchangeable between years? Knock sensors, afm, just misc shit that can and or cannot work between 87 and 89?

Most everything is the same, of note the cold start injector switch on the t-stat housing is a different plug, outside of that I can't remember a whole lot else.

The later number for the early style front subframe was replaced by the new one in the EPC. Dunno what changes occured.

Ride height is lower on the 89+ because of the springs.

PPS valve was on the rack, the valve on the pump is for the steering idle up...

89's didn't come with pre-89 spoilers from the factory, they would have been dealer installed on N/A's

I have a 6M crank, the early higher redline, square mounts, but a gray plug harness.

LSD is 3.73
