The pre-89 gauge cluster is much nicer IMO. there's a lot more gradutation and I like it more than my 89 cluster. Does the cluster from a pre-89 7m-gte manual fit a 89 7m-gte manual or do I need to hack some of the wire/connection/cable ?

if it's plugnplay ("bolt on") I will acquire a pre-89 one, put a lot of white led in it and replace the one in my car

now that I think of it, would a pre 89 7mGE cluster work (I'm getting an aftermarket boost gauge and I could use the voltage gauge)

They should work, minus the cruise light..

worse comes to worse you can swap faces (except the speedo, that's different on the pre 89)

Ya but isn't still calabrated for a pre 89 speed? Don't you have to swap over the entire speedo in order for it to read correctly?

you would have to modify the speedometer gearing or something to get the speed right, i had 89+ gauges on my 1988 before and the speedometer showed 6-7 mph off

Not only that, correct me if I'm wrong, doesn't the pre 89's only go up to 140?
