i have a spare 89+ rack and pinion if your interested and need 89+ (these are hard to find IIRC rebuilt all you usually find are 88 style
Pre-89 has steering damper, 89+ doesn't.
89+ had progressive power steering (PPS), optional on N/A (Sport Package) and standard on Turbo.

would i be able to put a pre89 rack in an 89? i could care less about losing the pps but a local guy has a brand new in the box never installed remaned 88 rack for 50 bucks whats the deal with the dampener
A bud has an 87 LTD with PPS but it's a JDM car so the US cars may not have had that option as early.
The Japanese really didn't want us to have cool stuff, I'm pretty much convinced at this point lol.
-I'm hoping it's an aging rack in my car that creates such a light steering feel on the interstate..
don't know what else to do besides replace it and hope, or figure a way to put PPS in and find that control module I've read about.

Does anyone know of a write up on replacing a rack in a MK3..... mine is shot, just bought a ps pump from driftmotion hoping that would cure it but i was wrong 
... I just found a clean shell for 600 bucks (89 turbo) my car is an 88 so from what i read from you guys i will have no problem interchanging them into my car??? even with a 1jz swap???
