It isn't SO hard to fix it (if it's in okay condition so to say), if not find a better one from the scrapyard and fix that. Mine was leaking (not very badly, quite normal laeking actually), but I found a better one and a guy fixed that easily (polished and put new bushings in) and now, it's fine ( though doesn't work as it's supposed to, but I think it's the rackdifference here, though dunno). And really, how much does the pump weigh? Jiiish....now that's an improvement. you can't remove the rack anyways...

For me it wasn't so much as the cost of the part, but I couldn't find the leak and the time I wasted looking for the leak was worth more then have the PS.

BTW the supra is a POS which has been ignored and beaten on :3d_frown: so everything is not as easy as it should be... poor poor supra:cry: ... atleast it didn't cost much :biglaugh:

^So how much it leaked? Mine didn't leak, when wheels set straight. IIRC it was like maybe a bottle of fluid per year or so. The tech said, that's actually normal :)
Btw there wasn't much to find. The inner bar or whatever it is, that is being moved, was little little rusty. Tiiiiiiinnny holes in the moving part of the ''bar''. Therefore it leaked through them.

Well it would leak at different rates and didn't even seem to run on a pattern, but mine could leak through a bottle in a week sometime it would last a month(BTW the car was my roommates). When ever you parked the car it would drip some PS and the mount it dripped vary each time, never the same.

^Wheels straight or turned ? :) You prolly don't know.
Though maybe on Miata, it'd be nice, dunno.
But when I had to tow the car, it wasn't nice AT ALL to be without PS, and let's not talk about power brakes :D
That's my opinion.

That's my opinion.

When we got the car the PS belt was off and I had to drive the car home without the belt... what a ****ing pain that was.

We just towed the car the other day(hence why I am buying it) cause the clutch died. It wasn't that bad to move push the car around without PS.

BTW there is a huge difference in removing the belt vs disconneting the lines and looping then back around, so your not fighting the pump and fuild.

No PS on the miata is a god send, I can feel when the front tires start to even loss any traction due to grave, water etc... it scared me the first time, but now it allows me to push the limits of the miata without worry of when the car will try and understeer.

Hmm.... I don't exactly know, what's wrong with mine, but it's kind of hard to steer. Not SO hard, like w/o the pump working at, not at all, but I sure can't steer it with one finger (as my father said, he could do that before, with the original rack). If it's the feeling w/o PS removed, then that's no problem actually :D

I removed the power steering from my 88. Feels much better highway driving with no PS since it wasn't progressive. I'm not going to lie though, if my car had PPS stock I would have kept it for sure, but full P/S at 170 km/h != fun.

PPS = Keep, Non PPS = ditch imo.

That and the turbo is easy as hell to remove without it.

well i had a rupture line in my power steering so i figured i'de just cut the belt. for the first month its was really hard getting used to it. but after a while i started enjoying it. it helped out on corners and on the freeway. nopower in the steering helped me out to "feel" the road. i could feel when my tires were loosing traction. thats just me. i know others will say otherwise but its really up to you to say it helps you out or not.

BTW. when others tried to drive my car, they would not last trying to get out the parking spot. i loved it. no one drives my car!
