Oh, another point is that Toyota put a better cooler on the 91+ models, seems that they knew it was an issue too...

I would certainly hope so with how often it FAILED in their races! :biglaugh:

Really sucks. The few things it was entered in were mostly DNF'd...the ones it did finish were often in second or top 5.

can you use a regular motor oil filter as a power steering filter with a remote filter head?

would you install it on the high pressure or low pressure side?

I wouldn't...way too big. Here's what I use:
Magnefine Filter
(2nd from the top)

You want to install it in the return line near the reservoir, after you do a full system fluid replacement.

I dunno if it would be funny as all the supras in junkyard that I've seen that are burnt look like they had a PS leak that got ignited on the turbo...

High RPM + using the system (turning) = power steering fade.

I've never lost it, but I have felt it fade considerably doing canyon runs...

What does that feel like? Does the steering get tight or?

jdub may think the Wix 51515/Purolator 30001 is too big, but that's what's on my system:

There's no reason why the blue hoses can't be run anywhere convenient. The filter hangs into the airflow providing more cooling than the silly loop. Of course, my NA has no intercooler in the way...

My original pump is still happy. :)

Oh, it will work...but, finding a place to fit a filter head is a challenge. Especially on a turbo car. The positive side is the filter will take a very long time to reach capacity.

The magafine is simple, simple to fit and works for a year easy. The cooler loop is easily replaced with a real cooler.

To each their own ;)

My car did not come with the power steering cooler.
