Im looking to see if anyone has any pics of a powerglide installed behind a 2jz in an mk3 chassis. Ive been strugeling with this for the past week. I just cant get the transmission to fit in the tunnell.

I even went out and bought a bigger hammer today to try and persuade the tunnell to get it to fit, but it just wont go. I made some solid mounts for the engine, and im wondering if i made them to long, or if anyone else had this much trouble trying to get it in under the factory tunnell.

I know big daddy has this exact setup in his car, but i cant seem to find any installed pics? Im thinking i might have to tilt the engine back alittle to make enough room, but im not sure how this is going to effect performance (drivetrain loss due to the angles being off for the driveshaft/diff) Any help would be greatly apreaciated at this point.

Thanks
Ryan

Where is it hitting? Is the bellhousing hitting the tunnel? I needed to do quite a bit of hammering with my th350 on a 7m, even moreso if youre using an Ultrabell on the PG. If youre worried about angle, level the car out, and buy yourself an angle finder. put it on the pinion, and then match that angle with the tranny. See if that gives you some more room. Or, get a bigger hammer. :) Or you can cut out the interfering sections and fabricate new sections that dont hit.

Good luck.

Ill try with the angle finder and see where it puts me. Ive pretty much got the biggest hammer you can get without using a sledge hammer :D. I think i finally have the bell housing cleared, but now the top of the trans is hitting the top of the tunnell.

I was really hoping i wouldnt have to cut any sections out, so ill see about possibly machining the engine mounts slightly at an angle to make some room.

this may be quick fix and can get some room is space out the sub frame

with mealt discs
and if the rear sub frame is out of alment do the same to the back you only can block the back so much i think 1/2 inc

the front has alot of room to go down since the streeing shaft has pealty of room to go down i hope this helps

may give you the room you need you can do easy test and just undo the nuts telly u have room or run out of thread what ever comes frist

Never really thought of that, and i guess if my new engine mounts dont work out, ill try this.

I made some solid engine mounts out of aluminium and put a 2 1/2* taper to them, so im hopeing this will give me just enough space for the trans. If not, i can always machine them slightly more and see how everything lines up.

Thanks for the help!
