for the few of you who've been following along with my power wagon, here's the latest.

i've got all four wheel cylinders replaced, all the brake hoses and the front brake shoes. master cylinder is rebuilt, and all bearings cleaned and repacked, all hubs rolling properly. even replaced the nuts and lockwashers holding the drive flanges onto the hubs.

here's the catch. i go to bleed the brakes tonight and find a growing puddle of fluid under the middle of the truck. turns out that i had a split in the last section of hardline. running through a hollow section of frame so i can't see the extent of the damage.

finally get it out and here's the rest:

Isn't it great restoring old stuff! You learn a whole new set of skills (how to rebuild components) and you get to deal with vehicles that were built to last. Vintage Rocks!

oh yeah, and a helluva lot of rust. i love how this thing is built, but i've already been through three cans of pb blaster in doing the brakes.

that's the only thing that gets me is the rust. i'll end up snapping bolts and stripping threads, but the way this truck is made, i can just go to the hardware store and get a standard replacement and the whole thing is good as new.
