power stearing question

would the power stearing work with bad leak? i just got done with my motor swap. car has been sitting for years. so would the p.s. system need to be burped? the p.s. pump worked before i pulled it.

is it leaking if so start with that. also did you burp it and did you start the burping procedure with the front wheels of the ground and go lock to lock untill it quieted down. need more info?
