Last week my car was parked at my work while on a job site some a$shole broke my antenna. Afterwards my cig lighter and dome lights quit working and of course so did the antenna. Blown fuse I assume. Can I remove the antenna and all wiring and replace the fuse without worrying about a short in wiring or even fire? Also how do I remove the antenna, please if anyone can help, this is the only day I'll have to do this for awhile. Also are the antenna/cig lighter and dome light on the same fuse?

Pulling the antenna is relatively easy, you can even do it without disassembling your trunk. Just pick up a GM antenna adapter and plug your stereo (if it's an aftermarket unit) into the other antenna lead at the dash, tha connects to the in-glass antenna in the hatch.

Thanks now my new concern. I changed the fuses for Cig and Dome and still no working dome and no working cig? How hard is it to repair a cig lighter?

the lights? its easy as hell. just remove your dash panel thing (the black one) and then take it out. you should be able to see the light at the cig lightrer burnt out. just replace it and it shoudl work.

I have no idea why the antenna didn't go down, but it my cig lighter and dome lights all quit working and the antenna is broke still attached by thin piece of metal. I just want to removoe the antenna and have the hole filled in and painted. I need to get my cig lighter working though need my radar detector bad.

I'm having my antenna hole filed in too when it gets bodwork done, I already yanked out the antenna and put a rubber grommet there.

CD player, XM radio and iPod is good enough for me, who needs FM :p

in-glass antenna???? What's that?? Also, my car's antenna was removed, what are my options for replacing it?? Also, someone said something about a GM antenna adaptor, what's that? What about the plug that goes into radio (aftermarket) is that hard to get?

Toyota sells the entire antenna system as a kit. It's like 200$. I tend to only listen to cd's....., so I was thinking of attempting to instal a citizen band radio antenna there instead. Just another toy to play with on road trips.

The rear hatch glass has an antenna built in. Looks like part of the defrost lines, but it's right at the bottom and it's not. Reception from it isn't as good as a proper antenna, but overall it's not bad, I use it all the time.

Both antennas have separately wired connections to the front dash, and on the stock head unit, they both plugged into the radio. The radio would use whatever signal was stronger - which usually meant the mast antenna, unless it was retracted.

The plugs for the head unit are not the same size, one is standard, the other is the GM standard, which is a smaller plug. You can, however, buy an adapter to plug the mini-plug into any aftermarket head unit, thereby making the mast antenna pretty much useless. :) Any decent car stereo shop will know exactly what you mean when you ask for a GM mini-plug adapter.

cig and dome fuse are both associated with the antenna.
antenna has a connector on it. you can just unplug it and no problem.

I removed the interior trim back there. made it much easier. I don't think you can get to the bolts with the trim on.

Hey I am having a similar problem, the power antenna mast has been broken on my supra since I got it and the dome lights aren't working in the car as well, bulbs work fine. I'm not understanding where the fuse for these are?? what is it labeled as?? I am pretty sure I checked all the fuses to make sure they were all good, but I want to check that one again just to make sure.... Thanks oh and its a '91 turbo targa
