Yeah I want a nice TV... first a CD player and nicer interconnects.

Damn you audio and cars and computers.... draining my wallet.

Bah.

You just need my awesome luck.

I got my 5.1 setup $200 off because the sticker price was wrong.

Yeah I suppose... I generally don't buy new audio equipment though, not for my stereo anyways (I do for automotive/home theatre). I got pretty decent deals on the equipment I currently have.

I paid $900 for the amp/preamp, and $900 for the speakers (IIRC). I bought them off of my uncle.

The amp was about $2500 new, and the preamp was about $1500 new, while the speakers were approx. $3000 new. These were the prices 15 years ago naturally.

There is no amp in the $2000'ish range that can compete with the Aragon's IMO. They match so well with the Infinity's as well.

I've already decided not to spend more than $350-500 on a CD player though, so I've got to look at some options in that price range I suppose. I'm going to listen to a couple choices before purchasing something though, I know my neighbour and uncle both have a few, so I'll have to borrow those.

In any case, after all that, maybe I'll go for a nicer flat panel TV... I'd sure like one, but I think my car needs to get finished, and I'm planning a trip to Can Cun perhaps in November.

Everybody be takin' my moneys; though I suppose it is 100% my fault. :(

In the general scheme of higher end audio, nope, it's cheap.

The important part is to be happy with the setup you have, if you start reading reviews and they mention things, you'll start hearing those too, and want better, then better, and before you know it, you've got a set of two $7000 hybrid solidstate/tube monoblock amps, or more.

I'm happy with mine... I try to avoid reading about other audio equipment for fear of wanting to upgrade. It's hard though when you need something like a CD player to not look at other stuff at the same time, haha.

In any case, I hope to not spend too much more, then just leave it for a few years at least, lol. The Kappa 8's combined with my 4004 MK2 and 24k provide a very warm feeling (IMO) but have a very tight sound, after moving to the Aragon stuff from my Harmon Kardon, the low end response change is phenomenal. I can only hope for as much of an improvement with a new CD player and interconnects.

Jeff:

They make a Blu-ray/HD DVD player. Its called the Super-blu by LG.

http://us.lge.com/superblu/

1200 bucks and not the best deal in town. Sony's new Blu-ray is 500, Toshiba's new xa2 is 800. You can have both systems in one less reliable, cheaper brand for 1200, or the best manufacturers of each for 100 more.

But then again I hear Denon's new player is on its way to the showroom... :)

God its easy to spend money working at an electronics retailer. Just wish we carried some better high-end audio.
