here is a ported stock elbow I had on my car way back about 3 years ago. Once you remove the "wall" you will be left with a hole on each side of the elbow that will need to be welded up.

That looks good! I didn't go that far down because it will cause a hole on the bottom...didn't want to deal with welding it up. ;)

What holes? Im thinking of doing the same thing. How long did it take? If you got it done at a shop, how much did they charge?

just buy the flange for the back of the turbo and make one. ive seen the flanges for sale with a 3in hole in them. a friend of mine made me the flange at work, then i bought the 2 3in ubends, a 10ft peice of 3in pipe(they only sold 10ft lengths so i had ALOT left over and gave it away) and then the magnaflow muffler, 3in in, and dual 2.5in out straight through, all of that together was under $200. all i had to do was cut and weld. used my buddies 110v mig. i hadnt welded in a few years so the welds are ugly but it works great. my 57trim ct spools faster then the stock one did on my car wit thhe stock elbow and stock dp open. i full boost (15psi lately)~2000-2500rpm depending on gear. first is really short. lol.

the flange he made

how does it suck? works way better then the stock elbow, and i did that over 5 years ago(when i was 19). how many people had 3in elbows 5 years ago? not very many. besides, i never had boost creep and full 15psi of boost by 2k rpm in 5th gear? i dont see the problem. who cares if the wastegate doesnt have its own port, still works. and i got a gt40 goin on with the new motor anyway. im going 3.5in turbo back on that wit ha 68a/r turbin, should spool almost the same as this upgraded ct and make 500rwhp on pump gas.

Thats actually a great idea!!! Less things to unscrew on a any car is a good thing!!! If the elbow porting goes through I will definantly be going this route.

For free it is a good idea. I did it because I have piles of car parts and full technician tool set. Mine looks like the one on the first page, not as big a port as the one on this page.

In terms of performance, just get a high flow elbow with your turbo, or the integrated elbow/pipe.

Mine isnt even on the car, go figure.

How much did it cost to get the welding done? What materials were used to weld the holes shut?

I just started with the gringder today and im half way done!!!

Well I finished it a bolted it up along with droping in a 89 NA intake cam and wow what a difference. Smoked a 5.0 from the line w/ 8 psi, turned up the boost and reved it and boosted to 10 psi (from the 3 lds I used to get unported ). Im happy, still want to get a suprasport to see what the difference is, but this will do in the mean time.

If not, then thats the way to be positive towards other peoples work. Dick...:3d_frown:

LOL sorry. Dunno, I'm usually not that harsh, but the wastegate gases are going to slam directly into a wall. At least on the elbow, they have ~1/2" before the wall goes up, but that's neither here nor there.

I agree it is good for X amount of years ago, and 3" full exhaust, yep. that's cool that it's only one piece turbo to tip.

guess i'm a dick. :dunno:
