Awesome, thanks for the advice. We'll use poly motor mounts and the new trans mounts for now til it becomes a problem. The reason we decided it'd be worth the $3000 to rebuild his A340 is for one, because the transmission needed to be rebuilt anyways and he wanted reliability. Second, money isn't an issue so he wanted the best rebuild possible. And Lastly because according to the shop that rebuild it, it'll safely handle the power we'll need in drag and street situations, forever supposedly (I'm assuming there's a warranty). According to the shop, all the parts have been cryogenicly frozen for durability using new parts resulting in half the total weight of the transmission.
If it's all true, its pretty badass. Has no one else ever done this on a A340? I think he actually called the shop and told them what you guys have told me and he reassured him that it will be basically bulletproof. Maybe we should get that in writing haha. From what I hear from my buddy, he's wanting to build it to eventually be a 9 second 7m. He has high hopes but luckily has the deep pockets to make it happen. Anyone ever do a quarter in under 10 seconds on a A340 before? I personally know that realistically thats a bit over ambitious but I'm trying to maintain an optimistic attitude considering he pays me to be his mechanic. I'm all for it! haha
