i agree but again you literaly blew your engine up the solid rubber ones are bad ass!

if you dont believe me hook up a cherry picker to your engine and jack your entire car up by the engine.

do it once with the solid rubber square mounts
do it once with liquide 89 + mounts
do it once with TRD solid 89+ mounts

the mounts will tear up all except in once case!!!!

I stand by pre 89 mounts 100%

if you go after market i agree with the guys solid mount idea but i wrather have a little play some where other then trying to take torque out on the engine mounting spots or the sub frame rubber moves in place of things you wouldnt want to give.

They technically all are "home made" at this point in time for pre '89 mounts. BIC, it's about time someone stepped up and mass produced solid pre '89 mounts, kudos for you ;).

My 1990 mounts are busted and I was wanting to make the DIY motor mounts also. Is there any drawbacks to going full solid motor mounts?

The horrible vibration of the engine and parts rattling loose. I opted against the solid ones. It gets even worse when the AC is kicked on.

it's not THAT bad, but i do recommend you finding a car that has had it done to it before you do it to your own.

I had them on a past car and I hated it for being a DD. But, if you have high HP, then it's all good.

But, yea ride in a car with them in it to decide.

I am not going for huge HP, so maybe the best thing is to find some cheep pre 89 mounts. What is the biggest gain from solid MM?

didn't want to create a new thread. But I'm swapping a pre89 engine into my 90. Which motor mounts should I use? The old ones or the newer ones?

It would seem it's just as easy to make a set of poly urethane motor mounts using some off the shelf cheap lower control arm bushings off some mopar a couple of pieces of tubing, and a few pieces of flat plat. That way you’re just as solid as solid but you'll reduce the vibration ten fold from solid. I made a set in a few hours like that for a ford 429 once, they had lasted for 17 years until the truck was sold.

engine mounts have to match yr of the crossmember....unless you're using adaptor mounts, etc.
