ok this is really random..how do you polish up metal? because i want to polish up my hks 3000 pipe..and later on my intake manifold..any one know how to polish?..sanding it down..is that all? sry guys just want to make my engine bay look nice

i just started doing my throttle body tonight

started off 150g
then 320
then 400
then 600
then 800
then 1200
and i'll be buffing it tomorrow with the buffing wheel and alloy polishing compound to get it totally shiney

here's my manifold that i've done and cam covers....

here's pics of my 1j/7m manifold undergoing stage 1 polishing :)






here's stage 1 complete


now on to stage 2 :)


now stage 2 complete onto stage 3 :)




and almost complete, still needs to get the final buff n polish

Hey!!! Where did you get that manifold????? That thing is swet!!! Since you said 1jz/7m i am assuming that it is a 1jz manifold that you adapted to the 7m??

^^ basically everythign you need to know is in Supragirl's post!

If you go to my profile, and look at the threads i posted, i have about 5 or so regarding how to polish metal and such!

yep you got it... it's 1j manifold welded to the 7m lower runners
cost me all up for it to be made $125 :D

i'll be buying a proper custom intake later on but it solves my problems for now ;)

Also, when you get down to getting the metal to shine...

-Use baking soda and water to etch the surface or "cut" the surface
-Use semi chrome paste pollish to bring the surface to a shine
