I have a 1992 MK3 that has a poor idle, the car runs a little rich but when you hold it at 2500 rpm it really loads up on fuel (gets so bad it sounds like it drops a cylinder or 2) to the point where it dies. The car does runs great while you are going through the rpm range, it just lopes during idle and loads up on fuel then smooths out for a little bit then loads up again.

i have new plugs and wires, adjustable pressure reg., 3" exaust, and lex airflow upgrade

Stock injectors with 25psi fuel pressure(30 when reved up). I have already swapped all my injectors including my cold start injector with good stock ones hoping one was stuck open but I have had no luck. I will post a video later tonight after work.

Why not try swapping in your stock AFM until you have the 550 injectors to match, and a tuning device. Regardless of if it fixes your problem, you need to do this anyway.

But, are you sure it's not leaning out on you, instead of going rich? You are on the low side of the range on fuel pressure, using too small of an injector. You are pulling 25% more air than stock all the way in and out of that motor, with no increase of fuel.

I would invest in some new or tested 550's. The whole idea is to use the 2 - ie (Lex & 550's). They are both approx. 25% bigger so they should balance. I would have thought it would go lean if anything with stock 440's and a bigger afm. I'd definitely flow test the existing injectors at the least. If it's not stuck open, it might still be skewed. gl.
oops, Dave beat me to it. ^^^ qft.

A lottery ticket sounds like a good idea... The car is definatly running rich, it fuel fouled brand new plugs in no time. The stock afm is garbage, the car wont run with it unless you hold it wide open and crank it over forever.

Anyone think the TPS is out of adjustment or crapping out on me?

And my girlfriend has my camera so the video is going to have to wait for tomorrow.

My engine was fouling plugs when my TPS was out... could sling gas out of them after it loaded up.

*edit*
check codes and see if a code 51 'magically' pops up. The light wasn't on when I did my tests, but the code came up when I tried pulling them.

I replaced the wiring for my knock sensors a week ago hoping that would help solve my problems, nothing changed. I ran the car again yesterday and got a code 52 again, reset the ecu and tried it again, same code. Change out a knock sensor and now i have no codes at all. the check engine light flickers on for a micro second when the car is loading up on fuel then goes out right away, i try to pull the code and the light does the normal blink once every .25 seconds.

I don't know about flow testing 440's it costs about $120 to do so just swap them out for some good 550's

No worries, FT beat *ME* to it. This guy is getting a triple dose of good advice tonight! He should buy a lottery ticket.
