I have 88 7mgte auto trans needs engine only I Plan on ordering a 7mgte from Japan running it stock until warranty goes out an installing my mega squirt ecu I have a 0.55 trim aireasearch turbo with 36 inch by 12 inch front mount intercooler and the 2007ish pink greddy bov plan on going for 450-550 engine hp. I plan installing the 2 mm metal headgasket and arp head studs to the correct specs and 3inch full exhaust.after warranty and moving turbo oil return line to the oil pan bcuz I've heard it also slows oil down goin through the filter first instead of straight into the pan and it's an easy fix is this true? Not sure what injectors to use to accurately get the right fuel with my set up anyone know?? I've heard your wasting your time doing internals if or only going for around 500hp is this true on low milage engine? And not sure the weak link of engine over 550hp?? And does Anyone know size/kind of waste gate I should run the mega squirt says it can control boost at different rpms and don't know what I need to be able to do that. Any suggestions would be appreciated any advice if I need something else please help and let me know thanks for the help everyone!

Forget the warranty and open the engine up. Most jdm engines are usually toast already.

The drain does not go to the oil filter. The feed is already filtered oil.

Even if you engine is alow mileage JDM it will be 25 years old. Something to think about. You should pull valve cover and if clean inside I would pull pan and inspect bearings relace the headgasket now replace all seals, coolant hoses and all soft hoses. Big budget buster yes but right time to do it. Do full 3" exhaust. You oil return idea is strange. Don't fix what is not broken. Do full 3" exhaust and set boost to 9-10psi just below fuel cut in 3rd gear with auto. Drive it this way for a while and enjoy it. This would be a fun car to drive now. Any more power and your auto trans will be a problem unless you increase holding power and cooling capacity. IE Valve body mods especailly primary regulator valve to increase line pressure. Torque converter should be change to higher stall. Great improvement.

Now you have spent alot of money. In reality i would do a 2 j swap. First of all let me say I love I mean LOVE the 7M engines. But cost wise the only difference from your 25 year old 7m and newer 2JZGTE VVTI is about $500- 800. With standalone wire harness mods are needed for either engine. I would ditch the auto and go R154. Yes the trans, bellhousing, clutch, pedal setup and drive shaft will cost $1300 -1800 depending on deals you get. But you save on auto mods, coolers and lines and torque converter. Stock 7m ignition weak at 500 whp also.

Ditch the twins and so for responsive street turbo. Maybe PTE 5862. Cast exhaust manifold like treadstone. Some 1000cc injectors. I would run Twin denso pumps and E85. This would make for one very responsive and fun to drive car I bet 500whp to 550whp with lots of low end torque. IMO

Get and intercooler that fits your car.

You can sell the your auto and the auto that comes with JDM 2j engine to recoup some $

Your total investment either way would be close. Really.

I bet few 500whp 7mgte's have gone 100,000 miles but this set up would 100,000 with out problems.

Again this is what i would do if I was in your shoes. IMO good luck.

I have read alot of info on the oil going straight to the pan will eliminate 98% of 7ms oiling problems I understand don't fix if ain't broke especially with all other work that I need to do.i completely agree on replacing all seals and soft hoses the reason I blew the original engine with 88,000 miles on it is the oil cooler return line blew off and drained the oil before I noticed and could shut the car off. I understand 2jz's are capable of much more and want to get a 2jz car with the money I get from selling my mk3 and then some. Wonder if my mk3 auto with 88,000 original miles on the car would be worth more with great new paint all new moldings and a bone stock engine do you know??
