oh jeez...put the stock fan on and report back!

Also, is your radiator cap a Toyota one?

To check if it's burning coolant, I would let it get to operating temp...drive it as much as you can, w/out the coolant overflowing...and then turn it off, let it cool down completely (like 4-5 hours) and check if the level is any different in the overflow and radiator...

well i definitely would have the clutch fan on if i had one. the car just came with the crappy one. i dont have a toyota thermostat, just one from an autoparts store. i already tried running without one completely, but that didnt make any difference.

tomorrow when i get my car back i'll try that. although hopefully there wont be terribly bad news about whats goin on with it. i've talked to a lot of people about this overheating situation now and they have all said at one point or another something about the radiator. so now thats got me wondering if even a small clog could be causing this??? i stuck a garden hose through it and covered up the inlet/outlets to get a little pressure and it seemed like it all went though normally.

okay, just do one thing at a time...don't give up!! You're soo close!

Is there white smoke coming from the exhaust at all? Does the exhaust smell funny? Like sweet smelling? Also, get a Toyota radiator cap, and once everything is right, I would get a genuine Toyota Thermostat as well.

hey great comment, that helps with my problem, thanks......

anyways, i just got back from the shop thats looking at my car and thankfully he said that my compression was good in all 6 cylinders. he thinks i might have a bad radiator. i did something really stupid and this could be the problem......i left a paper towel in one of the coolant inlet/outlet of the radiator or somewhere else (i dont know obviously) and he said when i revved it up chucks of it came out from the top of the radiator. hopefully its just clogging the radiator up and did go anywhere else in the engine.

so next up is a new/used working radiator. anyone have one laying around that they'd sell?? thanks

lol...I just hope it didn't completely clog anything... I would do a REALLY THOROUGH flush of the cooling system...

As for the radiator, I think you can get one from Autozone for relatively cheap? Can anyone else give some input on this?
