I just installed a new summit racing. Double pass radiator. And a remote mount swirl tank with filler.. and now my car never gets. Over 202 even under boost ..
The way the cooling system works now is night and day better than befor.. I can drive in town with no fan running and no heater on and I never break 200.. and that's on a 75degree day.. look into one.. I am a beliver

Side tank rads are the norm for BMW's of which I have a 750il with the filler elevated on the firewall. I suppose the stock rads on them are also dual pass, it makes sense from the design but with the sidetanks on those rads you would have to fab mounts to install in a mkIII and reroute the hoses and the only one that might work would be the Allstar Performance ALL30033 with the hose re route option or they also make a triple bypass that is 26" x 19" x 3" with the hoses closer to stock but still off. It is a fat one at 3 inches so it would be close to the fan and would still need to be fabbed to mount. You also need an inlet adapter.

i run electric fan. and yes had to pab up some mounts.. also the new rad is probly 1 inch thinker than my stock unit..overall thickness is 2.25", i was able to go 2 inches deeper also.. the stock unit did good at cooling .. just horrible under boost. and now even after doing 3 or 4 pulls it doesnt go over 205 i dont think my fan even turned on durnig that testing.. now i notice the fan will turn on at 207 on back off 2 min later at 195. its a major change i used to fight the same heat issues u have.. mine were all from trapping air in the system that i could not get out

this is the one i bought that fit my car the best.. had to change the filler and the cold side feed ,, add a drain , and a breather for the swirlpot. , also added a filler from the fill tank at the bottom on the cold side to make it work... but it was worth all the effort for my application

So after reading back thru.. what are you doing to bleed air out of the water system?.. do u have some kinda burping set up? Maybe look into a swirl pot in the heater area..

also have to looked into your head gasket.. ? Maybe fill the cylinders with 120 pounds of air and look for bubbles you could have a boost leaking past the head gasket

Here is a link to read about a swirl pot http://flashcustoms.wordpress.com/2012/04/02/what-is-a-water-swirl-pot-used-for/
