hi guys

i am suffering from the high temperature since months !!

the temperature goes about 110c ( 230F ) when i just ride the car in the streets !!
is it regular for the engine or not !!
i dont think so :)

here is the situation ..

1.my car is supra mkiii swapped 2JZ-GTE engine with stock twinturbos in 1 bar boost (15 psi )
2. installed an aluminium radiator with 3 rows (the input and output hoses of the radiator is above each other)
3.mishimoto thermostat thats open at 61c ( 142 F )
4.a 90 bucks not original Defi gauge maybe it misreading i dont know :)
5.a maxima fan with the second speed that recommended by the mechanic
i afraid to have to change the fans and get bigger one !
the radiator and the thermostat was so helpful because when the temperature goes high its quickly dropped down when i slow down or stop the car
i mean its better than the regular thermostat and old radiator
but this issue is still on when i go fast !!

somebody told me that the front bumper of the MKIII's is block the air from the cooler and radiator so i have to cut the bumper to get some air !!

what do you think guys ??

regards

The turbos really heat up the coolant when under boost and electric fans in Kuwait don't work too well. You should go with the clutch fan and blade setup with a shroud and go with a regular thermostat and not run the racing one. I have a summer clutch from a landcruiser pickup and in winter put on the LS400 one.
Also the engine under cover is a must. I had to order mine from Al-Sayer and it took over a month to get it. I still havn't put it on yet though, still using my torn up one. The mechanics have a tendency to butcher them.
You do not have to cut up your bumper.

Run a stock 190* t stat. Radiator is prolly getting heat soaked and the e fan can't keep up with it.

Over heating it like that a lot could damage the hg too.

Does it overheat only in hot weather? That seems high for just casual driving. I'm wondering if something is malfunctioning or set incorrectly. There is a list of causes of overheating in the TSRM, just in case you haven't checked something obvious.

i assumed that TT is causes the overheat when its works !!
but they are connected together to work at the same time so they just working in low RPM
i tried to run the car w/o stress on the turbos but still the heat is increasing to reach 110c !

do you recommend a mishimoto fans like these

i found it in here about 95KD
i thought about to cut off the cover under the hood my friend told me its trap the heat maybe its better to remove it what do you think ?

i bought the thermostat about 125$
why i should keep the stock one ifeel i need it !!
you are right the fans cant afford the needs of cool down of the engine

the hot weather is very important cause of heat
but sometimes i go out in cool weather the temp os go great but when i go fast like 130-140 KM/H the temp reaches 110 already !!

Don't run electric fans. Go with the fan clutch setup with a mkiii fan and a radiator shroud. I am currently running the landcruiser pick-up clutch and mkiii non turbo plastic fan with shroud and it works great.
Don't remove the undertray. It helps direct the flow of air while the car is moving or still through the front bumper. It makes more of a difference while moving do the air doesn't disperse under the car and is funneled through.

The blade and clutch are available outside the dealer and the shroud from the dealer, I paid roughly 30KD for the shroud but had to modify it because of the front facing intake manifold so the holes for the stock a/c fans have to be trimmed up. I have a contact in fahaheel that can get a fan blade for less than 20KD for the NA fan, he is trying to get me the 10 blade turbo fan but I don't have a price on that yet. The fan clutch is for a lexus LS400 but its best to have the fan to make sure it will bolt up.
My Supra is blue with the wing on the hatch.

You can get a new clutch and fan from an outside the dealer and the shroud directly from the dealer. I only have the fan on my car. The 10 blade I had before broke when I went over a speed bump too fast with broken engine mounts and it hit the shroud and they both went. Im supposed to check tomorrow about another 10 blade from my source in fahaheel.

I just installed a new summit racing. Double pass radiator. And a remote mount swirl tank with filler.. and now my car never gets. Over 202 even under boost ..
The way the cooling system works now is night and day better than befor.. I can drive in town with no fan running and no heater on and I never break 200.. and that's on a 75degree day.. look into one.. I am a beliver
