Ok my primary choices are Cometic 1.31mm and HKS 1.2mm, i originally planned on going with Cometic because i've heard they're more forgiving to not too perfect blocks. Then i heard they SUCK....im not plannin to push that much boost (psi) 15-20 at most. What do you guys suggest? I've also heard that titan motorsports mhg are the same as the cometic, but they're 1.4mm? wats the deal with that?

please help!

THANKS.

titan motorsports = hks/greddy

and i dont know who told you the cometic suck...but i would swear by them...my own cometic has withstood a few overheatings from hoses blowing, and my timing being about 40 degrees advanced and pinging the shit outta my engine under boost and it held up perfectly.

my vote? cometic all the way....

We've had some problems with cometic gaskets here. I'm sure they would be easily fixable, if you know what to look for. One of the rivets was on a sealing surface... was crushed by the head torque, but we never got a decent seal on it from this.

To fix it, I'd just drill out the offending rivet before mounting it.

Empera, are you only looking for 15-20 psi on a stock turbo? That doesn't sound like MHG territory to me. Are you hoping to go higher eventually?

15-20 psi on stock turbo is stupid anyways hot air city...

as for the rivet issue...yes this is a common complaint because cometic had made a batch that were messed up...but they got shipped anyways....mine didnt have that problem so i got lucky...but like you said grim if you get one with a rivet either send it back and get another one OR drill out the rivet...

From what I've heard, 15 psi is the upper limit on a stock snail, and even at that the life expectancy more than likely isn't there.

This is also very dependant on what you consider to be BPU mods.

looks like im gonna be goin with cometic, from 935motorsports. i hope i wont be disappointed.
Got the block pretty clean and smooth, some things are kinda engraved but nothing too serious. Gasket Scrapper did the trick.

Hey Shaeff, can you post a photo of your Cometic? Or is it already in the car? I'd like to post a pic of what to look out for just for future reference with regards to this rivet.

i ordered it from AAP motorsports, along ARP studs. as soon as it shows up, i'll be glad to post pics of it. it should be here relatively soon...

Anyone know of a 1.4mm headgasket? I need this thickness to obtain perfect quinch clearance on the new motor...
Pistons are poking .020" over the bores, so I want ~.055" to get .035" piston to head clearance. and I'm pretty sure the closest thing to .055" is 1.4mm
