best buy offers a upgraded hard drive(250gig) for 150$ and it doesn't void the sony warranty which is nice. sucks about the lack of backwards compadibility. i have a old a 40gig so i am in the same boat as you. rumor has it that the new update coming out will have a software patch so it can play PS2 games.

99 bucks for 500 gig at fry's...................

Only certain models of the PS3 had backwards compatibility. No, there's no patch that fixes it. Yes, it's retarded. Here's the link for models that are/are not: LINK

The 360 doesn't seem to have that problem as you can download a patch that makes backwards compatibility work. Problem is in some cases, it emulates the Xbox1 games like shit. Ex. SF Anniversary Edition.

Some games are very large... Plus movies and all the other stuff you can think of putting on it. My hard drive on my 80 gig is gettin there and all thats on it right now is games and music. I only used the 1.5 TB as a price example lol i dont know what i'd do with all that space.:aigo:

PS3 takes 2.5" SATA HD's so that one won't work. Just about any new laptop HD will fit right in. Sadly they don't make that big of laptop hd's so the most available is probably 500 gb.

I had 1 launch day PS3 which I had to sell, another 60 gig I got off ebay 1.5 years ago which I had to sell, and finally ended up with a BC 80 gig which has treated me well. The best model is for sure the 60 gig but the first 80 gigs are still good.

My PS2 is dieing a slow death... it's an initial launch console from waaaaaaay back in the day. Is there any way to get data like saved games off the memory cards onto a PS3 that is backwards compatible? I'm 85% done GT4 and I DO NOT want to start over, lol.

yes a memory card adapter for the PS3. Makes a virtual drive of your memory card on the HD
