Alright I have been studying these forums for the past couple of months gaining knowledge on my future swap. I plan on swapping the engine from my e34. (BMW) with the 1jz:evil2: over on some of the Malaysia forums many people have done the swap but they weren't as helpful. Anyways onto the questions... The engine that is currently in my car is a front sump and I was wondering how hard it is to find the 1jz with the front sump config. Also I would like to get the engine withthe r154 transmission. Along those lines how much should I look to spend on the engine and trans? I have looked on eBay but I'm not sure if I should trust some of those engines. And finally do you guys think that this swap could be done with an engine crane, jack stands, and a tranny jack?

Thanks for any help and sorry for the long post.

Getting a 1jz from a front sump is pretty easy- worst case scenario: you'll have to get the front sump setup of the forums and they go dirt cheap.

A good reputable place to get your 1jzgte plus r154 Soarer tranny (includes 1jz bellhousing and Shifter Extension) is from Jhot in Denton, TX. But any JDM motor can be iffy so be prepared to budget that in your build too. Like if a sensor gets broken, didn't get a part, etc etc- sh*t happens.

Besides that- Food for thought. Your gonna need to find out if you'll need the extra length of the shifter extension that comes with the Soarer r154 trans or if you just need a Mk3 R154 transmission w/ of course a new/ used 1jz Bellhousing (280 to 330$).

Problems i can see you having and leave a good dent in your wallet:
1. Wiring ( adds up Quick)
2. Mounting Motor issues

You need 1993 and up chaser/markII/cresta tourerV engine set. It has long shifter and front sump. 1997 and up is vvti.

Shouldn't be too hard of a swap.

Thanks so much for the help! So for I have located a shop that is capable of making the mounts/driveshaft. I have also (hopefully) budgeted enough money incase a problem arises. Now it's time to search for the right engine.
