piston rings and bearing Q

so i'm starting to think about what kind of rings and bearings i want use on my winter project. i seach and didn't find as much as i thought i would about where people got their rings. all i found is that the totalseal gapless rings seem to have a bad rep. the bearings are standard .25mm oversized. the wierd thing is the pistons are .050" oversized and i can't seem to find anywhere that even has that as a option. here is a pic of a piston and bearing. the pistons are cast btw. or is that .5 mm. i haven't had time to mic them out. i just want some opinions.

so i just would like to hear what other people have used and if anyone else has used .050" oversized pistons where did you get your rings from?

.5 is 1/2 mm over. That is about 20 thousandths. That would be a standard overbore.

Last time I checked JE sold rings seperate from pistons. I can't believe you can't find any. Maybe you just meant you can't find them at .050".

Are you going to bore the block or try to get by with a hone (use the same pistons)?

i'm going to try to just get by with a hone. this motor isn't going to be a prim build. i'm going to do a mhg and make sure all the clearences are ok, but i just want a motor i can beat on over the summer at the drags and finally go the lex/550s i practically have everything already. i just don't want to install all the shit then blow my stock hg on the motor i have in my car right now. i'm going keep that as a spare if anything happens. my car is my dd so it can't be down.

so what kind of rings and bearings do you guys run? i'm most likely going to go with stock toyota rings and bearing if i don't hear of anything better.

That piston isn't 50 over. It says 0.50, indicating .5 millimeter. Unless it is a 1/2 inch over piston for the 7M. I don't think he recongiized that.

yeah. i said in my first post i thought it could be .5mm but wanted to get other opinions. i just want to start shoping around. i'm not in a rush at all. i thought i would get a thread going considering when you seach there sure isn't much as far as piston rings. i'm most likely going to go with toyota everything being that it would be the safe way to go and nobody really has much to say. clevletts (spelling) seem to be what people us often, but then i read that they just some cheap bearings in a different box.
