I have some top end pinging or detonation at about 2800 rpm just before boost. It always starts and ends at that same rpm. No codes. timing is set. Engine is stock 7mgte with newly rebuilt driftmotion ct26 50trim, stock elbow, 3" exhaust. I run high octane quality fuel. It runs and boosts very well except for this. Can the modified turbo with stock intake cause some mixture problems? lean? Can a restricted or dirty ic cause lean condition before pressure builds?

Get one and check to make sure you are actually going lean. Because I do believe it is very hard, close to impossible actually to hear detonation with your ears. But you never know. Make sure you are actually going lean first.
