My fiancee has buldging disks, and nerve damage in her neck, has hurt her constantly for years, then she got rear ended by a semi truck a few months ago, made things ALOT worse. She has been to every kind of doctor there is. They are telling her that she is just going to have to live with it now. Pain pills don't phase it at all, she cant sit for over five minutes, she can't lay down for over five minutes, her left side is numb, but the pain is always shooting through her. Hope your not as bad as her. Don't try working on your car until your better, or you can make it alot worse. Noone wants to end up like her. Her quality of life is shot for the rest of her life. She had that injections done also, and she got deathly sick from it, and nauseated bad. Now she is at a pain clinic again, and they are going to try again. They also just prescribed her OPIUM! I hope it helps. She doesn't want to take it for fear of addiction though. I told her I would rather see her addicted to a Prescribed Narcotic than crying in pain all night and day. Alternate between hot and cold on your neck. One releaves muscle cramps, one swelling. Also might think about a Tins unit.(electrical shock device) It will releive muscle tension.

Wow. I can relate to how you feel. I have I do deal with my wifes medical problems she has a torn disc and takes some medication that she can get addicted to. Ask her doctor about KADAIN it is a time release pain medication like morophiene, it may be a step before OPIUM Let me tell you what I did and it has worked. If you can be strong get yourself a combination lock box to keep her medication in. It seems a little extreem however she has thanked me for doing this, as long as you can be strong and only give her the pills when she is suposed to have them you can help manage her pain and keep her from getting addicted to the medication. This stuff can kill a relationship, but talk to her about it. If she is allready scared about getting addicted then she may be willing to try this idea. You go with her to the doctor appointments be there for her not just for the pain but for support. You will be suprised how much it helps just to know you are there for her. It sounds like you are willing to help so talk to her about it. I got my lock box at staples and it has kept my wife from getting addicted to her pain medication.

Thats a good idea. She has tried the codene, darvacet, and a few others, then they put her on the morphene pills, they still didnt even dull it much, she hasn't taken the opium yet, we are still discussing if we want to fill the script on it. I feel so sorry for her, makes ya feel helpless ya know? I wish I could take the pain for her, even one day. I am sueing that Trucking Companies ass off too. The guy was 70 years old, and instead of stopping with the rest of the traffic, he decides to just steer around her, but guess what, there is already a car over there, and he runs them off the road, then swerves back and nails amanda. It totalled our Maxima too, I loved that car. I bought her a new Altima, but she couldn't drive it for a few months. I am installing a camera and TV system for her because she cant turn around to look behind her. The worst thing was, the wreck was 4 days before our week vacation to florida. So she couldn't ride anything at disneyworld, mgm, universal, sea world, and the walking about did her in. It just really sucked, and that was the first vacation we have had in um...ever. Just goes to show, shit happens to good people, just gotta roll with it. Her kid got diagnosed with full blown cirrosis of the liver at 14 years old too. Damn cruel deal of the cards huh? She is stronger than I could ever be to take all this....

I also wanted to tell you about these injections she gets in her lower spine, they take alot of the pain away sometimes for months at a time. You guys are seeing a "spine specialist" not just a general doctor right? A specialist will have these tools available to them. I think they are called Lumbar Injections, it talkes about an hour or so to do it. They dont have to put her to sleep but they do knock her out a little bit, then they inject her with some stuff that is like a nerve block and sometimes she is out of pain for a month or so. plus with the medication and she does have a tens unit and physical therapy appointments. all together it has helped. I remember when she used to cry herself to sleep or take so manny pills to just knock herself out. Look for a SPINE SPECIALIST, and ask about the injections.

Good luck with it.. Look for the things I have mentioned..

She has dont the injections, they are what made her deathly ill. I think maybe she is allergic to what the injections where. They are wanting to try them again, but she is very nervous about it. Thanks for the info. Nice to know there are others that understand what she is going through. They should change numbers so they can talk to each other for support.

That is terribleee... My mom snapped or whatever in the spine, as she was raising me out of bed, when I was really young...Now she also has these problems sometimes, but not so drastical like the ones mentioned above. And those doctors here wouldn't even put my mom under computer now....''too costy'' they say or smt.
Scary to think, what these people mentioned above are going through. I hope they stay strong, keep on fighting!!

i pinched a nerve for the first time in my neck.. anyone got any advice for making the pain go away faster? im sitting here doing nothing wasting daylight, when i could be working on my bhg (i was taking off the headstuds, i thought i heard something, turned my head fast and BAM searing pain in the neck, that literally made me drop to my knees)

weird post, i know..

lol. thx for any help.

Hope you saw a doctor for this and you are doing better. I have had "nerve neck pains" many times and what worked "somewhat" for me was mussle relaxants, strong pain killers and time to heal. Thats it and I know how bad it can be. Good luck.
