Has anyone had this problem? i searched but came up empty.

did a 5spd swap recently, had a noise issue so i pulled the trans off again but the pilot bearing was stuck on the trans input shaft :aigo:

what would have caused this?

also anyone know why the tsrm is down??

The pilot bearing is the bearing that goes inside of the crankshaft. The throwout bearing is the one that is on the input shaft. So, if the one that is on the crank is stuck on the input shaft, then maybe it was the wrong one, slightly smaller, and there was no grease on the input shaft when reinstalling the gearbox.

Failed bearing creating heat and corrosion?
Cheap pilot bearing?
Damaged (mushroomed) input shaft?

Could be many reasons that could happen.
Was the bearing new when you did the swap?

Ive seen 3 r154's that have a little lip in the very front of the input shaft from the bearing. I would just sand it down a little if you can and some pb blaster it might come off.

I just throw a tiny bit of grease on the input shaft. Dont grease the bearing at all tho as its lube is self contained.

Yep, not covered in the TSRM, but after going through the exact issue myself, I put a very thin coating of grease on the tip. I couldn't get the transmission to seperate from the motor, was hung on the pilot bearing, and it didn't want to reinstall either.
