Here's my take on a painted lip....

If you look at a profile of the stock mk3, the lip hangs lower than any other part of the car, except for other black-colored things like mudflaps and stuff under the car. If you paint it and have an otherwise stock body, it is now the lowest hanging painted part of the car, and gives the front a "nose heavy" look. That's why I prefer to keep lip add-ons black unless you have side skirts that hang equally low.

Just my 2 cents.

I dont understand you guys at all. Both of the cars posted up with painted lips looked great. The only problem is that you will have to be careful when pulling into spots, but you should be anyway.

Unpainted lips are hideous if you asked me.... well maybe not hideous, but not as good as painted :crazy1:

Welp, to each his own -- I stand by the idea of seeing the whole car as a composition, and deciding whether or not to paint the lip depends more on what else is dressing up the car. On an otherwise stock car, I prefer flat black, even if the lip is aftermarket.

Black = Stock
Black = aftermarket
Depending on car color (usually darker) match it with the lip, =aftermarket.
