Wow mate, that looks fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the write-up!

Is this something you would recommend, or do you think it was more hassle than it's worth?

For the Price, actually Yes, I would recommend it. Unless your hitting big numbers. I honestly don't see that bend off the IC being a Huge problem. if not cut it off and weld a radius bend on there.

Nice write up! But, would it be possible to use the left over straight piece in the place where the pipe comes from the snorkel hole with the slight bend in it is. Then use that pipe coming off the turbo on the way back to the intercooler. You will need some bend down there.

Also, is that black piping in your engine bay your old piping or did you paint these pipes already?

Routing that straigt pipe through there just doesn't seem feassible(sp) as you need those bends to get through that snorkle, but I see what you're getting at and I will check that when I do the hard install.

and which piping are you talking about.. there's a couple pictures in there that are before and Afters. and most the befores have my BLACK painted piping in there.. which some are aftermarket pipes+PVC mod but those are all 2.25" so they're going buh-bye

first off, congrats on the cool wife, welcome home, thank you greatly for your service!

Nice that you got it to work and Im sure there is no reason to change it, but a buddy of mine has an intercooler with a 90* inlet like that. On his car he mounted the IC so that side was up (pipe runs over the top then instead) and if Im not mistaken that allowed him to go through the front snorkle hole with that pipe. (it makes that 90* side the outlet instead of the inlet.)

Anyway, just an alternate possibility if you felt like messing around with it some more.

Oh and someone asked before as well, but where are you putting your BOV?

actually I did look at it that way. and w/ the piping available.. thats a no go. unless you wanted to fab some custome piping (defeating the purpose of the kit) it just won't work like that.

and if you look at on of my before pictures you'll see my HKS SSQV, well i'm having that cut and welded onto the new pipes in the exact same location.

Did you have to remove your passenger side headlight trim (the black plastic around the headlight)? My ETS kit requires it to be removed and you can not re-install it. Just wondering. :biglaugh:

Looking really good so far! I can't wait to see some pictures with the bumper on, make sure you post some, I was thinking of buying this kit too.

They will definately be up when I do get the bumper on.. but i'm at a speed bump now.. I was going to cut the flange from my old BOV.. unfortunately as someone wise pointed out.. Aluminum pipes + steel flange = bad joojoo :nono:
sooo.. dunno what i'm going to do there.. probably sell the BOV i've got now as its a kit that'll bolt into stock pipes. i'm sure someone would take it.

Looks good! I have the same IC kit, worked great on my 2j swap with the addition of a 45deg coupler on the turbo and another straight pipe (routed downward off the turbo 45), just had to cut the pipe that runs to the TB because the 2jzge TB is longer:

Also went through the fender for the IC to TB pipes because of where my turbo inlet is.

Like MA70Snowman said, pretty good kit for the $$, not direct bolt-in but I wouldn't expect that from an ebay kit. Definitely much easier than the completely generic kits IMHO...

This is how mine runs, but again, it is the driftmotion kit. The bends are achieved with couplers on either end of the straight pipe, one just before coming through the hole, and one after the next pipe. This actually pushes the bend upward to where the strut tower is, so I could never add a Strut tower brace. I may one day want to add that, so I would have to redo the piping up there. Cutting the bead off of a pipe is not the best situation, but if you are using T-Bolts, it should be OK. I have a couple of cuts in my set up. I actually used a cut off piece between the two couplers that are butted together at the 3000 pipe. Oh, and as the picture shows, my bay has been painted prior to the motor install. The exterior paint is yet to come.
