95 nissan pickup, ka 4cyl, 5speed

My friend has drove his truck for the past 15yrs with no problems. Yesterday he drove 60miles to my house and his clutch died and was hard to put it into any gear.
the clutch wasnt slipping but it wasnt disengaging, so i pulled the clutch and found a spring had broken out of the clutch disk.
After replacement the tranny wont shift into any gear without GREAT effort (same as before clutch replacement).
Did the trans and clutch some how die at the same time?
On the test drive the truck shifted into first fine but then couldnt get it to shift right afterward.

Did you open the clutch hydrolic system?
Are you sure the disc is in the right way?

Some older Toyota pickups have problems with the clutch pedal bracket cracking and thus flexing and not pushing the plunger all the way into the clutch master. Look under the dash and see if that's a possibility. I know this is a Nissan, but still worth a shot. Other than that, re-bleed the hydraulics and go from there.
