My Supra is getting closer and closer to completion and an exhaust is going to be the first thing i buy. but i am having trouble deciding between the Tanabe Hyper Medallion and the HPF Goliath Exhaust. I've heard a clip of the Goliath and must say it is an orgasmic sound but others say the Tanabe is deep also. I guess im kinda just having trouble justifying $800 for the Goliath when i could have the Tanabe for $500. Anyone have a sound clip of the Tanabe or wanna vouch for either exhaust? the $300 could be used towards my wideband or my downpipe, but HPF is only a couple miles from my house and would be able to have better customer service(if needed) because i bought it from a local company.

if you want something deep and loud you should look at the blitz nur spec. without the silencer its really deep and loud but it sounds good. i dont know how bad the cops are in your area but if they care about exhaust noise dont get the nur spec:biglaugh:

Goliath speaks for itself. 4" Stainless piping, good looks, and sounds great. You'll never need to upgrade... It would be nice to have someone with experience with the tanabe chime in though. I'm very happy with the goliath!

Just another hater ;) Ask your girlfriend if another inch would make a difference:biglaugh:
Not that "it" doesn't make a difference, but would you pay $300 for just an inch?...:naughty:

89Turbo, there is a "blemmed" Goliath on the shelf. It has a small dent before the muffler and is marked down $75:

What are we talking about now? Oh yeah the exhaust:biglaugh: If the 1" equals lets say 15whp with a turbo upgrade then $300 aint so bad. I've spent more for way less HP... I say Jump on that blemished one.

You sayin another inch isn't worth $300 bucks? Your plastic surgeon must be cheap-o!! ;)

Buddy of mine has a 91 turbo with a Greddy Evo2 (I think that's what it was...) sounds AMAZING!!! Deep & rumbly. None of that pissed-off weed-eater shit **cough**hondas**cough**

i have the tanabe, and i'll tell you it's excellent. Combine that with a BIC DDP, BIC test pipe it sounds good. I've heard videos of the goliath and while yes it sounds ungodly unbelievable, it also sounds quite loud. Something that maybe you don't want ALL the time. The tanabe is fairly tame until you give it some gas......people say it's too quite, but it isn't. You can cruise comfortably without any drone and sometimes if you can control your accelerator and RPMS good enough you can cruise without even hearing the exhaust. Don't be mistaken though you can wake up your neigbours if you wanted to, but also you could as well NOT wake them up if you wanted to.

I'd say get the tanabe and get some other goodies.

compared to the stock exhaust how much louder is the tanabe. i got dp and what is open exhaust up to the cat. beyond that its all stock piping, and i really dont want my car to be loud or droning at all. i'd rather just have it quiet and hear nothing but turbo spool.

it's hard to say how much louder it is. The stock exhaust is VERY quiet. I can tell you though, that my car with this exhaust, FMIC, and hardpipes it sounds like a jet. My turbo is VERY audible if that's what you want...........tanabe is one of the quietest exhausts for the MK3.

hmm can you get any sound clips? i recently got the nur spec and im scared to drive my car because its so loud and the cops here are anal about exhaust noise. i have been looking around and the only thing i really found that might be quiet is the HKS silent hi-power.
