I'm looking for 2 pics.

1) The passenger side tranny wing bracket mounted. When I attached mine to the block, there is a 1/2" gap from the bracket to the bell housing. What am I missing?

2) The downpipe clamp bracket. The little "Y" looking plate that bolts somewhere near the bellhousing and then is held onto the dp with a clamp. I can't seem to find where it bolts-up to.

Thank you all.

I agree, the driver side wing bracket is different on the driver side from the w58 and r154 (I've tried them both): but the passenger sides are apparently identical. Yet I'm still having the issue of bolting it up to the bellhousing. I initially tried tightening it (not smart) while in the bell housing in an attempt to pull it flush. Luckily, the bracket snapped apart instead of the bell housing. So I used the remaining passenger side bracket from the w58 and installed 3 or so lock washers to fill the gap. I even loosened the tranny bracket (below the shifter) as well as the bic engine dampener (which seemed to help) but still needed the washers to make the bracket sit flush. There's got to be something wrong here.

Sounds like you've got an Automatic tranny wing bracket when you needed the manual tranny one - or vice versa, I guess.

I thought the passenger side was the same across the board, only the driver side changes? I was about to bolt in my 5speed in place of the auto and was planning to re use the passenger side bracket. Now I'm worried I need a new bracket...

DamnifIcanremember which side is different now without digging through the parts book.

Here's the best pics I can dig out of my build... there's nothing really special about bolting this thing back on though.

Thanks for the pics GrimJack, but I actually need the view of the lower bolts. The upper part or the bracket bolts to the block perfectly, and even the upper bolt on the bellhousing bolts up just fine. However, the bottom bolt on the bracket rests over 1/2" off of the bellhousing. If I bolt the bracket to the bellhousing first it fits fine, however then the bracket won't bolt up at all to the block. I've tried 2 identical passenger-side brackets and snapped the first one. The driver's side bolts up great tho. Wtf am I missing here?

I just did a quick test fit with my r154 bellhousing, r154 specific driver side wing and na auto passenger wing. It didn't want to line up at first and I was a bit upset.

Then, I remember reading somewhere that you have to tighten the trans side then the engine side of the wings. So I loosened the wing to motor bolts and it lined up just fine.

I originally tried this as a quick fix and ended up snapping the first bracket (I had a freakin heart-attack when I heard the bang thinking that I cracked the bellhousing; or worse, the block!). I guess it's not a biggie having a few lock-washers in there to keep it tight. With the BIC tranny mount and BIC engine bracket; I doubt those wing braces will have much pressure on them anyways.

Now how about that downpipe bracket guys? I'm dying to connect my ceramic coated ddp, but I don't want to leave it hanging on my Turbonetics HI-FI without any additional support.

I don't know how the wing bracket snapped though. I mean, once mine was tightened on the bell housing the engine side still had some wiggle room. Once the engine side was tight it didn't budge anywhere. I just don't want to torque mine down only to snap one...

This is what I did. Haven't had a problem yet... and it's been several years. I had no idea there was a stock support there, to be honest.

When I snapped the bracket I had it bolted to the block and the one bolt on the bellhousing. There was still that 1/2" gap on the last bellhousing bolt. I attempted to draw it closer by screwing in the lower bracket bolt farther and the thing just snapped.

Well the problem is that I don't have the rest of my exhaust finished. Just ddp and a test pipe. I don't want to just leave it dangling there since that will be a good bit of leverage on the turbo and manifold.

I really would like to figure where the factory bracket bolts up to. I originally pulled it off a junker, and can remember it was bolted to the bell housing; but I just don't see anywhere it can bolt up on my setup. Weird.
