my 'matte black manifesto':
first of all, we have to establish that there is an INCREDIBLE difference between a FLAT black car and a SATIN black car...
also, in order for a matte paint job to look ANY good, let alone badass enough to look better than a gloss paintjob, it requires the body of the car to be P E R F E C T!!! all those cars rodel just posted look awesome, but theyre all fairly new, and dont have 20 years worth of dings and general surface indescrepancies that have to be sanded, hammered, dollied, and bondoed. the majority of those cars are also SATIN black. SO, regarding the 'cheap' look of a lot of flat black cars, they probably just werent done right. i know several people who have krylon ultra flat black spraypainted their cars, and OF COURSE it looks baddddd. so i guess the point im trying to make here is a good matte paintjob requires MORE time, effort, and money (if you arent doing it yourself) than a gloss paintjob ever would. there are no pretty reflections to hide behind. it's just you, and the naked surface of the car.
consider dimply bodywork on a matte black car 'automotive cellulite'.. a shoddy flat black paintjob on a crooked mk3 is going to look like rosie odonnel in a gstring... :barf: then look at the picture of that lotus elise. that car is naked, but it looks like jennifer lopez.
so in conclusion, if youre going to paint a car a matte color, go SATIN over flat, and before you paint it you better make sure the surface is baby'sass smooth.

PS: once your car is flat black, DO NOT EVER LET IT GET DIRTY!!
that is all
