I say Earth First! (We will log, mine and drill the other planets later.)

Ha, that reminds me. The local paper had an article about 9 scientists warning about global warming. One of them mentioned increased risk of forrest fires because the warm climate was causing trees to grow more quickly/densely than ever before.

Yeah, either that, or the tree hugging hippies made people stop logging so there is an abundance of fuel... :3d_frown:

i think the whole "destroy the world" thing is bassically impossible. maybe destroy humanity as we know it" but think of it. what we are using to "pollute" our planet was already here to start with, if we really shit this place up we'll just kill off all the humans. earth will still be here, hit an ice age, and bounce back as it has before.

and from what i can see theres a good right wing following on here. im pretty liberal, not a hippie (as cartman would say i freakin hate hippies) but im still liberal.

if they love animals so much and dont want to hurt them then they need to be taught the basics. put them in a cage with a badger or a freakin bangle tiger and see if they dont get things back in perspective. animals eat each other, we just consume a larger variety, thats all.

btw, anyone see that restrautn in seattle that serves zebra burgers and kangaroo hot dogs. I SOO want to go there and chow down on some kanga.

This thread was bound to become a political discussion... YES!

As I've seen on t-shirts and stickers before: "Hippies smell." They serve no useful purpose.

Moving on...

If there is indeed a right wing following here, great! The stand that has been shown toward this issue is purely common sense and there is clearly some of that floating around on here. I'll hold further comments on this subject until the situation calls for it.

If any of you didn't know, the air in our atmosphere is becoming cleaner-contrary to what the left would try to force you to believe (without a fact in sight). Before any of you go telling me I'm wrong, keep this is mind: this was broadcast on NBC-a liberal-biased network. It's been a couple of years since I saw that, but that is something that I remember well from that broadcast. I believe it was on Dateline in an interview with Al Sharpton. He was saying that pollution is such a huge problem and only getting worse. I know that the media passes on a lot of fluff as fact, but since this was not part of the liberal agenda, I have a hard time doubting it.

Actually, as cars improve in design, the amount of stuff coming out of the tailpipe that is "bad" has decreased to the point that it takes hundreds of "today" cars to equal just one "old" car like a 1974 Pontiac Bonneville with a 455 under the hood.

This is good change IMHO. Now the problem is nobody knows where to stop. They want "zero" emission cars. (Impossible.) The ultra low emission cars already put out such miniscule amounts of pollution, they are basicly "zero" emission.

The problem is now industry has deep pockets, and the politicians don't want to close those pockets, so they avoid laws that would force these huge smoke stacks of industry to clean up. (Few places like CA have done it, and watched the companies move to less restrictive markets.)

I don't have a simple answer for this problem. People need goods and it takes factories to produce them. Without mass production, we are back swinging stone axes in a short time.

There are more trees in North America Now..then when the Indians were the only inhabitants.

Global warming has been cooling for the past 15 or so years..its cyclical..just like everything else in nature.

Animals taste great, deer are overpopulated, and who cares if Panda bears are extinct...they do what for the world? (other than refuse to mate)

It really depends on where you live. I'm guessing you've never experienced the joy of a smog alert. "Elderly and children are advised to stay inside. Adults should limit their exposure...". I don't live in Fresno anymore but the air has gotten worse since I left.

If you look at the nation as a whole the air has improved over the past several decades. But that's because we made a dedicated effort to change vehicle and power plant emissions. Not all restrictions are good ones but emission controls aren't automatically the devil either; even if they were started by Nixon ;)

Most of the smog allerts in the valley are from farmers burning their crops.

The requirement of cats on modified sports cars should be lifted. :naughty:

As far as smog in certain areas-I'm well aware of what the inhabitants of some parts of the world have to deal with. The dirtiest-looking air I've ever seen was either around Iwakuni, Japan or San Bernardino, CA. It's also pretty bad in the Philippines (I've been there, so don't tell me I don't know, please). The stinkiest air I've ever come across was in Iwakuni, Japan. It was a polluted-type smell, though, not like those Crapistan countries (and some others) where nobody "believes" in deodorant.

As I'm sure you know, though, I meant the world's air is becoming significantly cleaner as a whole.

I totally agree, and that is one of the reasons I liked living in areas where "cats" were not mandated by law. (Now I live in the only county in Idaho that does check for them....? WTF was I thinking.)

Now every year I have to bolt on the stock DP and cats, pass the idiot test, and then take them right back off again. (Open 3" pipe is SO much better for performance on any turbo car.)

As far as pollution goes, I hardly drive my Supra. (More lately than I used to, but still, it's mostly a weekend car, or used on nice days.) My other cars all have the stock setups in there, and put out as much stink as a warm bran muffin. (You guys ever seen "The road to Wellville"? That movie was so dang stupid, but it was funny.... Ha ha ha ha aha ha ha aha ah....ha ha... Get it? Watch it and you will.
