Nobody wants to comment on the effectiveness of the floor bar?
It's pretty looking but like I said before, it only attaches in two points... If you just welded something like that to the floor all the way across, or at least connected it to the floor somewhere in the middle, I'm sure it would serve its purpose better. Pressure across the length of the bar can cause it to bend vertically or from front to back independantly of the floor, but if you add a little metal to prevent that motion it will take a lot more stress across the length. A box is no where near as rigid as a box with support going from corner to corner.
Besides that, does the car even need support there? The strut towers are an obvious place because there is little/nothing there to directly prevent those points from moving indepedantly, and there is a lot of stress around those points. The floor bar is barely seperated from the floor, which I would think is pretty strong across it's length already.

To get any benefit out of this bar (the generic one), you gotta drill and tap another bolt into the frame, otherwise the bar will wander, since the seat belt bolt is so far away. You also gotta tighten the hell out of it putting serious pressure outwards against the frame. I couldn't get mine any tighter (I wish I had put more grease on the threads after I painted). Once the bar is tight, it is pretty solid. You can bang on it with your fist you can tell it is damn rigid. I think the pre-load on the bar from tightening it should minimize its tendency to flex. I just ordered an aluminum one that I'll compare to the steel one, since the steel one is quite heavy.

I've now got front, rear, and floor bars with Tein coilovers and it's pretty darn solid! Handles better than my lowered Mk2 now.

meh I got my bar today........the stupid thing is meant for FWD cars. The bump is too small to get over my trans tunnel to be mounted properly (like the do-luck), and I'm not going to drill another hole in my rocker panels, when there's already a perfectly good one there that I can use. The plates line up fine with the seat belt hole and the secondary bolt hole, but the damn bar just doesn't come up high enough.........junk

Edit: the quality of the item is fine - it just doesn't fit in my Supra. Maybe I'll install it in my Accent if I can't sell the damn thing.

lol @ putting it in the accent.
Return the f'n thing! They should give you a return on that. It was, after all, a deviation from the listing, right?...

Fuck it. I knew it was a risk at $80. I lost the gamble. I can *make* it work, but I'm not gonna do that with my car. I'll get the real one at some point.

In the mean time - Anyone want this one? Just like shown on page 1: $50 shipped and it's yours.........

Update: I just bought another one off ebay which was advertised to be made of aluminum. I got it and it is steel, pretty much identical to the other one. False advertising!!! The fake carbon fiber finish is better than the silver paint at least.
