parking brake shoes?

so, long story short my parking brakes are shot, and i cant find them anywhere without it being stupid expensive, anybody know where i can find them?

I can get them from a local parts shop for ~$70...

Parking brakes are things that don't normally get replaced too terribly often, so it's expected for them to be a little more expensive.

You can get just the shoes for a fair enough price, but should really replace everything while you're in there, as I highly doubt any of it has been touched in a while (shoes, springs, clips, etc)

Do it once, do it right. Best motto to live by

Yeah but how do you remove the old arm from the old shoe? You know, the little arm that holds the parking brake cable? I think I need a special wrench.

They're a mini drum brake setup, you need the tools to do them.

There's a "C washer" you have to bend open to get the one shoe off the brake lever. The TSRM shows it all.
I find you don't need the tool to get the hold-down cups on and off if you have strong fingers. They are the most annoying part of the process. Locking needle-nose pliers are great for working with all those springs.

I went to rockauto and found direct replacements, the quality is great. I've already installed them and have been very happy.

I did mine with no special tools, I thought it was pretty easy. Just need needle nose pliers IIRC.

Yea, I had used two needle nosed pliers mainly for the spring retainers, ohh and my TSRM, thought it went pretty smoothly though.
