- Gallon of base coat (PPG #202 balck onyx) + 1/2 gallon of medium reducer

- 1/2 Gallon of clear + 1/2 gallon of reducer

- Hours upon hours upon hours of prep work

You need to do major intense prep work on the car and the spotless garage, the paint will find its way onto EVERYTHING that is not covered and sealed off. And evrything you missed cleaning the garage will find its way to your new paint.

So true....................I built an enclosed paint booth in my garage and everything still had red dust all over it a year later.....the paint job came out awesome though, so I guess it was worth it! I used tar paper for the floors, framed it with 1x2's and covered in plastic. I made a door with 1x2's and put filters in the door, and an out take fan on the other end. For added lighting I used hologen lights on stands and moved them around.

Very nice, i don't have a garage, but i was thinking of using my carport, build a frame to extend it out of PVC, and just tarps everywhere, when it comes time to paint

Thats a cool setup for a ghetto paint booth, mine was similar only not as cool, where do you get the tar paper?? The 1x2s is a good idea, I used a few huge blue tarps, Next time I will have better lighting, I'm painting the whole car early spring, I hope it turns out as good as the engine compt.

Everything came from Home Depot. You can buy a roll of the tar paper (stuff stinks), and roll of duct tape for the floor. Tar paper will keep the dust down. 1x2's, L brackets and hinges for the framing and door. Home A/C filters and duct tape for filtration in the door, Rolls of plastic and a staple gun for the walls. I used a box fan to draw the air out to the driveway and would just spray the driveway down with water before spraying to eliminate any problem with overspray on the drive. I built it in one Saturday afternoon, kept it up for a month or so while I did my paint job and buffing, then tore it down, kept the wood and just threw everything else in a dumpster at my office.

Here's a big hint though guys, the secret is not in the paint job, it's in the color sanding and buffing afterwards, that's where you get the mile deep gloss effect, small drips, runs, dirt, all that crap buffs out.
