I just aquired a set of chrome Lexus spoke style wheels. Because the chrome is flaking in a couple of places I was considering painting them gloss black.

I am assuming they will need to be roughed up but will some kind of etching prep be required?

there is a liquid metal etch you should be able to find in just about any hardware store. I used it to pre-etch some chrome bumpers once. It worked ok.

Just food for thought. You also can send them off to be redone. I wasn't a fan of chrome before:3d_frown: but now I'm converted!

^^^ all correct.

It really depends how chipped up the old chrome is, and if you want to sand it.
The best way is to media blast it and start fresh, like the nooB said.:)
How perfect, on a scale of 1-10, do you want it to look?

I'm in for a 10:naughty: anyday!!!

send them to a place like this and get ones that have been redone. i think they will send you redone ones, then you send them back yours.

Cool. I wonder how many of the sawblades they move.:evil2:
