@ everyone that diy painted
did you use a flex agent on the bumper covers?
if so would you use a flex agent on all layers of a three stage job. or would it haze the clear? I have had problems with bumpers flaking in the past.

I'm a bit confused on this i was looking at house of kolor line of product but they don't offer flex additive.
My family paints high end cabinetry for a living and I know I can do a nice job on this project I just need some ones experience to answer questions.

has any one used house of kolor? what about SW/Martin-Senour auto line any experience with these brands?

I'm trying to stay with urethane I have read that Urethane doesn't run or sag as readily as the enamel, dries faster, and doesn't attract insects as much as enamel. Enamel is cheaper, less toxic while spraying, and can be kept in the spray cup longer.

Our bumpers aren't really flexible enough to need flex additive added if you use urethane. If you do use it in every thing(even the primer)It only takes a tiny bit too,and it doesn't haze your clear.
HOK is great paint.Kinda pricey, but their specialty stuff is top notch (candy, pearls, flake, etc.)Have not used their clears.
Sherwin Williams ultra 7000 is good paint(I think it's 7000,ultra series either way)
the dimension series of their paint isn't bad,but coverage is shit,so not worth what you would save 'cause it will take more paint than w/the ultra series.
SW 633 or 639 is great clear,633 is more forgiving, but 639 has a better shine to it,both are very durable.

that’s great info thanks, you talked a little about coverage the last time i painted a car i used a one stage paint and it was not good. Orange peel, and newbie taping mistakes, i think i used almost 1.5 gallons how much should I order if painting SW white base and then a clear with pearl then a top just clear? Im not looking for a exact amount but just an ball park figure so I don’t run short in mid spray.
