It's Not Important Bro
OEM Single Stage Paint (base coat and clear coat mixed) was used to paint our old cars back in the day. This was the most popular application during that period in Japan, before clear coats became the norm.

My question(s) are:
Are there any auto-detail geeks out there that have worked out a process removing paint imperfections (moderate to light swirl) using Orbital Buffer (Porter Cable 7424) type machines?

What products were used?
What methods were used?
How is single stage paint-care diffrent than clear coat paint care?

Any help would be appreciated as I am planning to take a full day in February getting my baby ready for the upcoming Car Show Season.

If swirl marks/light hazing are all you have to get out, typically a black foam waffle pad and some glaze will work,(low speed ~1200 rpm w/the buffer,do about half a fender at a time.Buff on,then wipe off by hand),microfiber towels work best)
Heavier haze/oxidation may require an actual buffing compound(has a little "grit")and a yellow or white foam pad.Wool pads work to,but are more aggressive, therefore easier to burn through the paint. You don't want to sand unless you have to as single stage buffs hard. Can be the only way to remove certain stains sometimes though,(bird shit is a common one.)
Actually caring for the paint isn't much different than two-stage paint. The main exception is a good wax is a bit more critical with the single stage, mainly to increase UV/stain resistance. You can get a hell of a shine out of most single stage, just typically wont hold the shine for as long as BC/CC.

I used a orbital buffer and

Zaino ZPC, but ive also had good results with 3M Rubbing Compund. Finished the car off with Zaino Car Polish (4 coats) Did this on a friends car if you want to see pics. Same colour too as yours 3E5

Toy Fan.. Good Info!!
What glaze do you prefer?
For finish, do you like the new Polymer Sealants or are you "old school" Carnuba?

Anyone Else?

Glaze:3M perfect it foam polishing pad glaze,or CarBrite black pearl final finish#5
Wax:I really don't have a preference on the wax,Meguiars works well.Look for something that will "sheet" the water off, instead of beading it on the surface.
