OK I HAVE A 87 TURBO SUPRA 5 SPEED. ONE DAY I WAS DRIVING AROUND AND THE TEMP GAUGE JUST SHOUT UP PAST THE TWO RED LINES. SO I PULLED OVER LET IT COOL DOWN. REPLACED THE THERMOSTAT IT STILL SAID IT WAS OVER HEATING. SO I THOUGHT I BLOW THE HEAD GASGET. SO I REPLACED IT WITH A MEATAL ONE NEW HEAD BOLTS EVERYTHING. BUT NOW IT WILL ONLY SAY ITS OVER HEATING IF I STEP ON THE GAS TO THE FLOOR OR LET THE MOTOR SLOW THE CAR DOWN. BUT ONCE I PUT IT IN N IT GO'S BACK TO NORMAL HEAT..I AM SO CONFUSED ON WHAT THE PROBLEM COULD BE AND WOULD BE VERY THANKFUL IF YOU GUY'S COULD HELP ME FIGURE IT OUT THANK'S.

Sounds like there may be a clog somewhere, radiator probably. Possibly the fan clutch, or water pump, but the pump seem pretty rugged, not too much to go wrong there, unless it's seized, but then i don't see your heat coming back down.

You did a MHG? How did you prep the surfaces?

Oh, and seriously, don't yell at us. The more desperate you are for help, the less likely you are to get it, if you make it obvious. And also you'll be more likely to follow poor advice! Take what everyone says with a grain of salt

Yeah if it only does it sometimes and you already did the head gasket i would say that there might be a problem with your radiator or something blocking coolant from flowing properly. I would take it off and flush it and possibly have it tested. Or see if something is physically blocking the radiator from getting air thru it.

I have the oppisite problem in my corolla the damn thing never heats up. I replaced the Tstat thinking it was stuck open and flushed all of the coolant. I ended up putting a piece of carpet in front of the radiator. :biglaugh:

It's fine... I'd say the main two culprits of you overheating problem are either/and the radiator being clogged (if so replace it) or the fan clutch (I think you can rebuild those somehow....).

the coolant looks brownish green, it looks dirty and is full of clumps of dirty stuff. (if it were a bhg)
