So hear the story...i have a 88 supra bought it for 1300 in a town 25 min from me. went and looked decent outside car needed new exhaust and it was a auto: (. while driving ran fine was a poop off the line but after going bout 30 or so it wasnt bad. i told the kid i wanted it he drove back home followed him i noticed it blew a little black smoke. talking him down from 1600 to 1300, was thinking turbo seals were bad. while driving home and gf on the phone following it only blew black smoke in boost. i noticed while driving it would start to over heat then cool down did it twice before i made it back into my town. finally pulled over for gas left car on and it was all the way in red and was pouring out overfil line. parked it couple days later drove it to my moms took thermostat out. tested it in boiling water worked fine i left it out just in case maybe it was sticking everyonce in awhile. started it up let it run for awhile it started to get to the H and when i reved it up the temp went down. so drove it to autozone only overheated when stopped at red lights, but after awhile of driving it will over heat no matter what and pours out the overfil line. confused on why its doing it i looked in the manual checkd the radiator hose felt pressure u can hear bubbling in radiator when it hot. also like a seaping noise out the radiator cap so im getting a new one see if it fixes it any other sugestions.

Usually when it pours out the overflow its the hg. Could be the rad cap tho.

When the car is hot are both hoses equally hot?

Look at how the fan moves when its idleing. IF you can grab it the clutch is shot.

Please dont try to grab your fan with the engine running unless you want to seriously hurt yourself!

Do some searching on head gasket symptoms and how to test for it (IE block test, leakdown, compression) and see if the symptoms match yours. Fix any obvious problems first (leaking cap etc).

When checking a fan clutch use a small section of rubber hose just slightly against the blades. Don't use your hand in case the clutch is good.

It almost sounds like your radiator cap may be weak and is a lot cheaper then a HG job- give that a shot and burp the system with new coolant.

One other thing until you find out why its overheating like that, I would recommend you get it off the road and stop driving it. Your gonna warp the head and it can make other components that were fine, worse.

Might have already done it.
Check rad to see if its clogged as well. Make sure your coolant levels are correct. I know it may sound stupid but check at the radiator and not the overflow. There really are people that stupid so that's why I'm saying this.
