The car overheats , the reason i believe is because the coolant is going into the coolant overflow but then is not being sucked back into the radiator when the car is cool, so it all just spills over the intercooler
The radiator cap controls the transfer of coolant to and from the overflow. The surfaces(there are two sealing surfaces) on the radiator need to be in good condition for it to work properly.
well the thing is i just finished a bhg and turbo replacement like two months ago and i let the HG break in 1000 miles , and when i turn on the car and the leave the rad cap off there are no bubbles , i have asked some of my supra buddies in Ellensburg,wa and they say i need to replace the rad cap and radiator
I imagined my exhaust spinning around at 5k rpm's like a boat motor and lol'd. Sorry bro, we're just messing with you. Compression/ exhaust gas coolant test would probably do you good.
yea i figured , same as snipe hunting,i did the pressure testing and no bubbles , i emptied the the rad and the engine of coolant and put a new thermostat in (the other thermostat was only 1000 miles old and looked fried) and its doing better but i need to get a fan shroud (was broken when i got the car so i just took it off because the car was going to sit)
Lolz be sure to check the headlight fluid too thanks for playing along i needed that. I just go my car back on the road after the BHG but it was the coolant test for exhaust gases that confirmed it for me, it's the first thing i'd recommend if you thing the HG is going. If it comes back negative it doesn't mean it's not leaking mind you, but if it's positive you can be certain of it.
A leak would give you waterfall sound not push fluid out the cap. With a leak you are letting pressure out which the cap is supposed to do at the given psi.
A leak and losing your coolant would let you over heat tho.
Its either a bad rad cap or a bhg even tho you did it. Its more possible that the cap is either clogged with crap from over the years and old than having a bhg after you just6 did it unless the work is not up to par.
I put a new thermostat in a few days ago and i drove the car around quite a bit and it would never go above half on the temp gauge (good) keep in mind i dont have a fan shroud , i wake up and turn the car on and let it idle for 10 min (in 20 degree weather) and when i get in it its about 3/4 on temp gauge and it would never go down to the to the normal lvl
