so i replaced the manifold gasket the old one was leaking alot. so had the turbo and everything off.. fianly got it all put back on with the new gasket...i still have my boost controller set to where it use to be and i was hitting right around 13psi.... now my car is trying to boost like crazy trying to go well over 15psi, but im constantly hitting fuel cut at 14-15. i turned the controller down all the way.. and its still wanting to boost like 15-16psi?? whats wrong here? also i noticed what appears to be oil coming out of my exhaust.. not much, but after driving and boosting some i look at the back of my car and theres little wet spots around the back bumper. not positive that it is oil but thats kinda scaring me that it might be.. and what would be causing that if it is? its a new 60-1 turbo, 3in exhaust, no cat. or anything, straight back. I could really use some help with these 2 problems. thanks!

It's boosting higher because you eliminated the exhaust leak...all of the flow is hitting your turbine like it should. Not sure what wastegate actuator you're using, but I suspect it's set for a default of 15-16 psi.

The drips out of your exhaust is likely water with soot mixed in...normal, especially with it cold outside. You should be able to rub some between your fingers and tell if it's oil or not ;)

^Yupp. With no cat you will be needing a claybar to clean your back bumper every other week or it will turn black.

if oil is coming out from your turbo, there is too much oil going into the bearing cartridge. you can get a restrictor for the oil. a lot of the BB turbos need a restrictor or the oil just pours out.

He doesn't have a BB turbo nor is he positive it's oil coming out of the exhaust. He never said there was oil coming out of the turbo anyway.

There's hardly enough evidence to assume an oil restrictor is needed on the turbo.

ok so i im pretty sure it was just some soot/condensation coming out of the exhaust.. but i gues my real problem is what do i do about the waste gate being set at that high of a psi range? i cant run my car properly cause my fuel cut is at 13-14.. anything i can do?? that and my car has a small oil leak under the car,, dont think i got the drain bolted on to the block tight enough.

oh, just incase the boost controller was the problem i eliminated the controller, i just put a short tube from the turbo to waste gate so it would hopefully run as low as it could, but its still like 15-16.

I'm going to assume it's an aftermarket 60-1 with an external WG. If your base WG setting is making you hit FC, then you don't have many options.

Either get a softer spring or use one of the methods to raise or eliminate fuel cut.

If it's a CT26 60-1, then you have some other problem. Something related to the boost controller and/or vacuum hose setup.

its a ct26- 60-1 upgrade... could be a different waste gate though.. its alot stiffer than i remember my stock turbos to be.. and this wasnt my stock turbo that was upgraded, it was a different ct26 in better shape and modified. the funny thing is, with the gasket leaking apparently i had the boost controller set to where the turbo could boost like 30-40psi or somthing,,but i was only hitting 13-14 and holding it,,lol.. cause after i fixed the leak drove the car with the boost controller set the same and the boost shot up so fast and i hit fuel cut like no other and it spooled SOOO fast..lol

First - Are there any shims under the bracket where where the WG actuator attaches to the turbo?

2nd - If it is an aftermarket WG actuator, some of them have a screw type adjustment where it attaches to the flapper inside the turbo. If it does, unscrew it a few turns and test.

its almost like the waste gate is stuck shut maybe? what would cause that. i had to un-bolt the waste gate from the front of the turbo to work in the are as the bell was in the way.. when i went to put it back on is when i noticed it was very hard to pull far enough to get it bolted back in place. alot harder than the stock turbo i had before.

Ok - Kinda answers my questions above. Take the WG actuator off and blow some compressed air (gently!) into the nipple. The actuator arm should move.

im dreading taking that turbo back off, its a pain in the butt. anyother way i can check to make sure the waste gate isn't stuck or needs adjusted?
