Money is getting tighter and until I unload some of the shit I have on ebay and just laying around I figured go cheap for now until I get the money when this stuff sells and then upgrade my turbo while still using another piece... dunno.. maybe just wait it out and see if I sell some stuff before deciding...

I would just wait it out if your car is running fine at the moment. I've been on stock twins for over two years now, trust me... I know the feeling of wanting to upgrade. In the long run though, doing it right the first time is still the best idea, but it does take patience. :)

I just bought another T4 ~67 trim turbo for $239 delivered (Ebay). The last one lasted about 5 years @ 363HP (stock boost @ ~9PSI). I think I Fed it up and starved it for oil, when I was messing w/my tranny rebuild (may have kinked the oil feed line).

Your call, but I'd put the $$ towards something I can use and combine with future upgrades. If you plan to stay "stockish" w/the CT26, then this may not be the option for ya.

Maybe you should sell the supra if you dont have any money?
After this, you will be able to buy a decent turbo for a future supra...

This is a motor I am rebuilding to drop into my car when complete... sly, thanks for being the least helpful. I was only asking this question because I have already spent around $2k on the rebuild and the money isn't getting tight. You can find my build thread in my profile... and since my build is at the machine shop phase I was getting opinions.

I just read the entire thread to realise that you did not listen to people asking you to wait until more money because chinese turbo are not worth the money.

Did 363HP w/my turbo... so bought another, now that I am upgrading the injectors & turning up the boost. Dunno why U think it's not worth it. I originally got mine to buy time while I did a bunch of other work and am quite happy with it's performance. I believe that I accidentally starved mine of oil and damaged it, instead of it being a self-grenading issue. For ~$250US for 5+ years of boosting at stock levels, it's worth it in my opinion. I can afford another turbo, but for the price and my goals, it fits quite well.

Good luck OP!!

Albert's 57 will be good. If you want a T4 setup, the GT35R will be more than efficient. It will light the tires on fire super quick, it is a very stop light to stop light friendly turbo.

Want to spend money, GT35R, want to conserve, CT26 57.

Your call.

Here are the options I am currently weighing on my build...

Option 1: Temporarily purchase a Chinese 57 trim t3/t4 oil cooled only (bypass coolant lines temporarily)turbo and a ct-t3/t4 adapter and run that (until I can save my money to have Albert rebuild my ct26 to a 57 trim) at around 10psi.

Total: about $200

Option 2: Purchase a brand new CT26 from a supplier on Ebay

Total: just under $300

Option 3: Send my turbo out to Albert for rebuild and upgrade to 57trim

Total: just under $500

I am looking to have reliable 325-350whp. Albert said a 57 trim would be my best bet. I am trying to get my build together properly and reliably however the Chinese turbo being as cheap as it is will give me something to work with until I can send mine out for rebuild and upgrade. Then the stock new ct will be just as reliable as a fresh rebuild but not be trimmed. And sending my turbo out now would be a little too expensive right now I think with all of the other parts I need to worry about buying for my build.

Thoughts?

Honestly, if i was in your shoes,. i would skip all them options and buy yourself a Holset HX35, will def give the power you want, extremly reliable,. and extremly cheap to rebuild. and takes abuse extremly well (them trucks see so much heavy loads etc, and the turbos take it like a champ)

and if u want more boost in the future? you can :)

I found a Cummins HX35W.. Is that what I am looking for? The one I found on ebay was only around $300 new... Seems kind of a cheap price.. it has a 4" inlet?!?

im not sure what the letters mean,. but yeah thats what your looking for,. and you make think... 300 bucks? thats really cheap. and well its true,. and just as reliable as any brand name turbo. there oem replacement turbos for them cummings, etc. there extremly durable, and extremly cheap to rebuild. heck last summer i found a HX52, brand new with billit wheel for 200 bux!!!. talk about a steal of a deal. and they spool faster and the same as a GT4294R,. and its cheaper and omfg awesome :)
