i just got a rebuilt with NO shaft play for 300 bucks couldnt really pass it up. its a GARRETT GT40; .58 a/r (54 trim i think) compressor w/ anti surge inlet; 1.19 a/r (72 trim i think) turbine, 3in vband outlet...i havent pulled the housings and measured for exact numbers on the wheels yet but from my research i feel these numbers are very close...im almost sure its journal bearing because its not water cooled meaning its not a GTXXR meaning not ball bearing which blows...i know the exhaust housing is pretty huge but i hope to see 750+ at around 8500 on a forged .40 over bottom end and p/p head..but it still might be even a little large..when i do the math for where i want to be i came up with about 40lb/min flow with 2.7 pressure ratio at 8000rpm which puts me a little farther left on the closest map i could find than i want but it is still in a very usable range as it appears ...where sould the bets begin on when it reaches positive pressure ...around 4500 probably

one thing concerns me but probably shouldnt.. the compressor housing has the heads of the bolts that hold it to the center housing on the front face of the housing, i've always seen them on the inside never on the outside...and it appears it is the retainer brackets that are threaded not the housing...so the bolts (which are torx head) go through the front outer edge of the housing and into the threaded retainer brackets which have the ends of the bolts sticking out of them about 1 or 2 threads each and the retainer brackets aren't flat so i cant just run the bolt through the other way..which makes more since to me...any one know anything about this illusive compressor housing or had experiance with an exhaust side of this caliber

1 bump per 24 hours.

past that THATS A HUGE REAR! get a smaller rear housing. post some pics of that bolt situation as im having a hard time visualizing it in my head.

next if you plan on revving to 8500 you are going to need to build the head out some as the stock valvetrain wont take that kind of abuse.

A friend in town at a local speedshop sold it to me cheap cause i sold a 1j to him cheap...anyway i'm putting all new crower springs retainers and valves in the head so i think it should be safe with all the new parts plus it will all be blueprinted anyway just to be safe. i dont have a camera so i'll try to find some pics of a similar housing
