Option 1: I just found a real old Kenmore unit in the dumpster. 5000 btu. Blows pretty cold air. Only date I could find on the unit was 1982 and that was on the AHAM certified rating sticker. Im using it to cool my 18X12ft living room in my apartment. My only concern is that because its so old its going to use up a lot of energy.
Option 2: Can buy a used Fedders unit for only $75. One year old. Blows good cold air faster. 8000 btu. Model A6X08F2B. Energy efficient rating is 9.8.
I'll only need this a few months out of the year. Which option? The main thing is I dont want that old unit to be using a lot of energy, but it was free.
