Hey, everyone, bit of a lurker here, been looking on this forum for the last couple of months. Main question I have, is someone I know is selling a 86.5 Supra, NA, 5 Speed. It only has about 85,000 miles on it, engine is immaculate and runs beautifully. Never been ragged on, as it was owned by a older women. Its the brownish leather interior, but the front seats are worn and cracked. There is some rust starting to form in the wheel wells, and on the doors. I can't stress enough that the engine is in incredible shape. She gave me a ballpark in price, and I was thinking of offering her about 2500 Canadian, (so say 2000 american) just wondering if I could get it for that, would it be a steal? Or should I save my money. Any opinions or information would be awesome.

Thanks

Ya see thats what im thinking, fix up some of the rust and redo the seats, dont even have to do that right away, and it will be a really nice DD, cuz thats all I need. I won't be driving it stupid really (too many speeding tickets before this lol) and wont do any mods really, maybe when the engine blows throw in a 7mgte, but thats later.

I bought my NA supra, with 100,000++ with NO RUST, for the same price.

Rust, is a big NO in my book, but if your willing to deal with it, its a great price!

It's an NA, rusty and worn interior.

If you're serious about getting this car because of the low mileage, then I'd get it inspected. 2500$ is a lot to spend on an NA without first knowing the condition other things are in. Tires, exhaust, transmission, oil leaks etc etc. Get it inspected before paying the bucks. More often then not it ends up being a bargaining tool.

And 2500 doesn't scream deal to me, west coast NA's go for about the same and are going to be less rusty than most supras in Alberta (salt).

If I were you I'd keep looking or haggle her down.

no more then $1500. it might make for a decent daily driver, but think of what it will cost to repair that rust. it wont be fun...

if the car has rust on it. i either dump the consideration of it and/or the price ill offer sinks like a rock.

Well, 20 years old, NA, rusted, but it is a 5 speed and only has 85,000 miles on it, so I would offer her 1200 usd and she will probably meet you in the middle for about 1500. And paying $1500 for that car would be a great deal IMO

See, I have seen it, and I know this would be a lot easier with pics :). But the rust is barely just starting, its not really bad at all. Everything else on the car is mint, comes with brand new summers and winter tires on steelies. Everything is really good on the car, doesnt leak a drop of oil or burn any. Exhaust is in awesome shape. So ya, as soon as I get pics I will post em up see what you guys think then.

See, I dunno here, in Calgary AB, I have yet to find any decent ones priced below say 4000, for a car with like almost 200k kms on it . So i dont know if its just here, or if its just my bad luck. MK3 turbos go for like 8000 here with high kms. So I dont know lol
